15 Cool LEGO Gifts for Adults

1. LEGO Architecture: New York City Skyline Collection

LEGO gifts for adults come in all shapes and sizes. However, this set is currently one of my favorite home displays! I don’t live in New York City. However, I’ve always found the city’s skyline appealing. This LEGO Architecture set features the Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, the One World Trade Center, and Flatiron Building.

Built from 598 pieces, the set measures in at a decent 10 x 9 x 1 inches. Pretty few brick pieces by adult standards, although I don’t think that takes anything away from the stunning completed look.

The LEGO Architecture series is a winner among older fans, with the New York City collection being a personal standout to me. Not the most challenging to put together, but a big crowd-pleaser nonetheless. For its modest price, this is perhaps one of the more affordable LEGO items for adults available.

2. LEGO Creator: Taj Mahal Building Kit

LEGO Creator Taj Mahal Building Kit

Just look at this beauty! Building this Modern Wonder of the World took me quite a bit of time. No surprise, seeing as there are a whopping 10,000+ pieces, making it among the largest adult LEGO sets in circulation at the moment. I’m especially impressed by the level of detail and its likeness to the real thing. The many decorative features, ornate domes, and beautiful architectural arches make this an easy showstopper. This Taj Mahal set measures in at a solid 16 x 20 x 20 inches.

To me, this is easily one of the best LEGO gifts for adults you can get. Admittedly, the set is a bit pricey but – for its sheer quality – I think it’s well worth the amount for hardcore LEGO collectors.

3. LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Millennium Falcon

LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Millennium Falcon

Weighing in at a hefty 11 kilos (24.2 pounds), the legendary Star Wars Ultimate Millennium Falcon kit features detachable hull panels, blaster canon, a 4 mini-figure cockpit, and other authentic interior details. You’ll need a solid table top to properly display this giant, seeing as it measures in at a good 8 x 33 x 22 inches, made up of 7541 brick pieces.

LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Millennium Falcon 2

I don’t actually own this set, but got it instead as a present for my good friend for Christmas last year. He built the whole thing over two days. As a serious Star Wars fan, he’s totally stoked to have this as a display piece in his giant collector’s room! I’d recommend this to anyone keen on cool LEGO gift ideas for grown-ups.

4. LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron

LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron

This Technic set is definitely one of the best LEGO gift ideas for adults who love cars. Developed together with the Bugatti company, the set is a faithful recreation of the dream sports machine. It comes complete with an active rear-wing (iconic to the car), 8-speed gearbox, steering wheel, and other engineering details. The whole model measures in at 5 x 20 x 9 inches – about a 1:8 scale to the actual speed beast.

LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron 2

I just have one tiny gripe: I wish they’d made the same model available in more colors. I’m not a huge fan of the bright blue. However, a cool add-on is the LIGHTAILING Light Set (head, tail, and interior lights) that can be easily fitted in with the Bugatti. I think the two together make for a unique LEGO gift idea.

5. LEGO Creator Expert Carousel

I’m all grown-up now but that doesn’t mean I don’t still hold a special childhood affection for carousels. This LEGO set scratches my itch for this classic carnival ride, featuring a textile canopy, five different rides, and a turning crank that actually animates the animals. The fully constructed set clocks in at 12 x 14 x 13 inches.

LEGO Creator Expert Carousel 3

I had the most fun building this together with my kid. Not difficult, but at 2670 pieces, the carousel set will still be worth the while for novice adult LEGO builders. I’d say, when it comes to cool LEGO-themed gifts, this toy will please young teens as much as adults. The real winner here is the Brick Loot Deluxe Lighting Kit that completely illuminates the carousel, turning it into a mesmerizing night-time display.

I think this programmable robot is easily one of the coolest LEGO gifts for adults. You’re able to build and then code your proud creation to walk, talk, play simple games, and complete certain tasks. The set comprises 601 pieces, including the EV3 brick, sensors, and motors. I had the most fun connecting my robot up to my smartphone and controlling it to shoot targets.

The MINDSTORMS EV3 set is probably a bit too intimidating for really young kids. However, adult LEGO fans and kids around 11 or 12 upwards will thoroughly enjoy the challenges of putting together their own robot and customizing their unique commands. It makes for a sure-win gift for LEGO lovers who wish to dabble a little into basic robotics and programming. I for one am a fan!

7. LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store

Adult LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store

Okay, I find this Old Fishing Store set to be a little bit random in theme – and isn’t quite as cool as some of the other adult LEGO items above. However, I’m a huge fan of its unique aesthetics with the Captain’s wheel, lookout tower, rustic-looking railings, and more. Hey, the set even comes with a cat and a few seagulls! When built, this LEGO creation measures in at manageable 12 X 9 x 9 inches.

I think everything really comes alive with the cool lighting kit that casts your Old Fishing Store in a warm, cabin-esque atmosphere. Interesting side note: this beautiful set was actually put into production thanks to the power of fan-voting (over 10,000 votes in a few weeks!), making it an instant LEGO lover favorite.

8. LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle

This Hogwarts Castle set is crazy epic, being made out of 6020 brick pieces and measuring in at a respectable 22.75 x 27 x 17 inches. Adult LEGO fans into Harry Potter will have a magical time putting together the many towers, turrets, classrooms, chambers, and other iconic franchise features. The set is also packed with 4 LEGO mini-figures, 27 micro-figures, and – yes! – 5 Dementors. I’m especially fond of the tiny details added like the inclusion of all the House banners and stained glassed windows.

I splurged on my own set and spent about two fun-filled days putting it all together. From my own experience, this is unarguably one of the best gifts for adult LEGO fans who dig the Potter franchise. Oh, and in case you’re curious, I’m in Gryffindor.

9. LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book

LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book

Sure, as adults, we’re a little too old for kiddy fairy-tales. But, honestly, who cares when it comes to a unique LEGO gift like this? Allow me to introduce the first-ever buildable LEGO pop-up book that, when opened, reveals two memorable scenes from Little Red Riding Hood and Jack & the Beanstalk! There are also enough varied blocks to create your own scene (maybe Red Riding Hood can be feasting on the wolf instead?). This perfect LEGO present also includes an exclusive booklet that details the history of pop-up books.

LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book 2

I don’t yet own this set – but I know what I’ll be asking my wife to get me for my birthday. Honestly, the fact it’s the first-ever brick pop-up book of its kind makes it all the more appealing, if only for its collectible novelty.

10. LEGO Disney Castle

When it comes to the best LEGO gifts for adults, it’s hard to top this 4000+ piece, 29 x 18.8 x 12 inch Disney landmark. This set is packed with tons of intricate decorative details, including an ornate chandelier, grandfather clock, knight armor suits, and much more. The main section is a four-storey building that connects with a spiraling five-storey tower. In addition, there’s also a few included mini-figures for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Tinker Bell.

LEGO Disney Castle 2

I’m most impressed by the color finish of this Disney set. For example, the included vase of flowers is painted a few different shades of gold, making for a stunning LEGO prop indicative of the loving care invested into making this product. Walt Disney would be proud!

11. LEGO Creator Expert Assembly Square

LEGO Creator Expert Assembly Square 1

The Assembly Square was released to celebrate a decade of LEGO Modular Buildings. This 4000+ piece multi-level set features a bakery, café, florist’s shop, dental office, dance studio, and other locales with lots of interior decorative details and finer touches. There’s even an included LEGO drum kit and declining dentist chair!

LEGO Creator Expert Assembly Square 2

There’s quite a few curved and corner angle pieces in this set. These really do help to add variety to the aesthetics (e.g. the curved pieces give an authentic look to the retro TV). Overall, I think the Assembly Square is a must-have gift for adult LEGO fans hoping to expand their Modular Building creations.

12. LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster

LEGO Creator Roller Coaster 1

Adult LEGO lovers who fancy amusement rides will have a blast with this 4120-piece Roller Coaster set. This 20 x 34 x 16 inches kit contains 2 chain-lifted trains and an assortment of theme park features, including a ticket booth, concession stand, cotton candy stand, and much more. You’ll even enjoy the thrills-and-spills of watching your coaster rush down the tracks, assisted by gravity. The set also comes with 11 mini-figures ranging from park workers to a family of attendees.

LEGO Creator Roller Coaster 2

I think the Roller Coaster kit is a perfect accompanying gift to the aforementioned Carousel set, seeing as both share similar aesthetics. I had the most fun putting together the gear mechanisms that help to operate the coaster. Little details like lap bars (that secure the passengers to their carts) are a nice touch, too.

13. LEGO Ninjago City

LEGO Ninjago City

Inspired by the movie, this 3-level LEGO building is packed with tons of landmarks – a fish market, fishing boat, house, and more. Even better, the set comes with 16 mini-figures along with lots of finer details (e.g. fish and crab elements) and interior decorative items. You can even press the handle at the back of the ATM to dispense bank notes – or turn the dial to start the sushi conveyor belt.

LEGO Ninjago City 2

Personally, I’m not a super big fan of the NINJAGO universe. However, this is without a doubt one of the coolest LEGO gifts for adults who enjoyed the movie and all its over-the-top characters. The entire set clocks in at a sizable 24 x 12 x 16 inches.

14. LEGO Creator Expert Volkswagen T1 Camper Van

LEGO Creator Expert Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 1

Older LEGO fans will feel a pinch of nostalgia with this classic Volkswagen replica. All the iconic vehicle features can be found here, from the curved window frames and roof to the slanted dashboard, bench seat, and speedometer design. The rear door even opens to reveal a detailed engine, just like the real thing!

LEGO Creator Expert Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 2

At just 1334 pieces, this isn’t really an ideal set for very advanced adult LEGO fans looking for a challenge. Nonetheless, the finished van does look stunning on display, and will be a conversation starter for guests who might fondly recall driving one of these back in the day.

15. LEGO Destiny’s Bounty

LEGO Destiny’s Bounty 1

Again, I’m not a big fan of the NINJAGO universe. Plus, this set is listed as suitable for ages 9-14 (not exactly for grown-ups only). However, as an adult, the splendid 2295-piece Destiny’s Bounty really does bring out the inner pirate in me. Arr-matey, I’ve sailed the seven seas and fallen in love with the awesome double-dragon ship head, decorative sails, a triple-decked ship, training dojo, and more. There are even little piping details that enhance the overall look of the set. Iconic NINJAGO weaponry are also featured, including 4 golden sais, the black stone warrior sword, an Aeroblade, and so on.

LEGO Destiny’s Bounty 2

Overall, I think this 17 x 21 x 6 inches pirate ship is a really cool LEGO gift for adults and kids alike, thanks largely to its striking aesthetic. Shame it doesn’t actually float on water (I tried).
